Does a medical student need an iPad?

The latest iPad Air models are more powerful than the current 11 or 12 inch iPad Pro. You can wait a few months for the new Pro model or get the current Air. I’d be sure to get one with a pencil, combo keyboard, and at least 256 MB of flash. You’ll need the extra storage. I use my 2017 Pro as my on-the-go device and spend more time at it than my older MacBook Pro. I do have remote access software that will allow me to remote connect into it, or any PC. I use the pencil to do drawings, take handwritten notes (I’m old school) that can be later converted into typewritten note. I used the keyboard regularly to type notes like this one, letters, etc. I use the camera (with OCR like Scanner Pro) to scan in receipts and other documents I wish to keep. I do not recommend using the IPad exclusively. There are still things easy to on a desktop/laptop t are a PIA on the iPad. So perhaps an getting a desktop (like a Mac Mini or similar PC) and an Air would be good solution for you. You can currently do so for the price of an loaded iPad Pro. Alternate solution. To that end perhaps a Microsoft Surface might work for you. Personally I find the Windows bastardized tablet/desktop interface horrid to work with. And I say this as a electrical engineer using and programming computers since 1972 and paper tape time-sharing mainframe days. When I use a computer, unless somebody is paying me to program or fix it, I just want to get my work done. Anything that causes me to waste my time repairing/modifying/setting up just gets in the way and irritates the hell out of me. Time is money.

There's a big difference between taking a break and being bored or feeling stuck in your work, especially since a lot of me do not ever get a break. With an iPad on my lap or at my side, I do my job more efficiently. That is the main reason I use it as my main computer. In general, I'm using the iPad for entertainment, writing, and drawing (with OCR). But at this stage in my life, I do not go any further with any of those interests. I will most likely stick with the iPad and the pen. When you have an iPad Mini with 512 MB flash storage you have all the flash storage you'll ever need. I am using the 64 GB version. I have been using a 32 GB model for the first 3.5 years or so. Having seen this model, I can say that a 64 GB.
